Man who had half of his skull removed is declared fit to work

A father who had half his skull removed after suffering from a stroke has been declared fit to work and had his benefits cut.

Kenny Bailey, from Elsecar in Barnsley, says he has trouble walking and needs help to get dressed. He says the Government is picking on people with disabilities.

Kenny was a joiner before ill health changed all that. Now his mum helps him to dress and she's also angry at the way her son has been treated.

The Department of Work and Pensions says the decision on whether someone is well enough to work depends on an independent assessment and supporting evidence from medical specialists.

A spokesman added that any claimant is entitled to appeal.
