Scarborough home to the UK's 'most romantic walk'
Scarborough has been named as home to the UK's "most romantic walk".
The seaside town beat off stiff competition from other cities such as London, Cambridge, Chester and Glasgow to win the coveted title.
It was given the accolade after being nominated by local Caroline Rhodes.
The contest was run by Living Streets, the UK charity for everyday walking, who asked 15,000 supporters to nominate their favourite UK town or city romantic walks.
The entries were narrowed down based on the number of nominations received and the most romantic reasons given, and put up for public vote.
Scarborough won with 28 per cent of the vote.
Jenny Wiles, Regional Director (North East and Yorkshire), Living Streets, said she was 'really pleased' to see Scarborough taking the title.
Robert Goodwill, MP for Scarborough and Whitby, said he is 'thrilled' the town's 'fantastic walks' have been recognised nationally.
