Shocking video shows chaotic scenes in Sheffield last night as youths set off explosives into the street while people and vehicles passed by.
Under a cloud of thick smoke, fireworks were set off repeatedly into a residential and shopping street. Sparks fly across the street and the flares almost hit a number of vehicles and a man who appears to be a steward.
Residents have spoken of how they feared for their safety as the flares were flung into Abbeydale Road, to the south of the city.
Sheffield Councillor Nasima Akhtar was at the scene and was left furious that youngsters had spoiled the evening for others.
One local resident speaking about the incident believed that police could have done more to calm the situation.
South Yorkshire Police say they have not been made aware of any injuries to members of the public, but one male police officer was admitted to hospital with a head injury.
