Three migrants desperate to try and sneak into Britain in the back of a lorry got the shock of their lives when they forced open the rear doors and came face-to face with a polar bear bound for the Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Doncaster.

The men were among a group of refugees who stopped a convoy of trucks outside Calais' notorious Jungle camp at 4am this morning.

In incredible footage one terrified migrant is seen to take one look at the one year old bear called Nissan before he runs away.

But his determined friend still board the lorry and hide behind the bear's steel cage.

Amazingly, the men spent ten minutes huddled in total darkness before French police, acting on a tip off, removed them from the truck.

Nissan , who has come from Moscow Zoo, is safely settling in at the Wildlife Park in Doncaster.
