Alton Towers crash victim Joe Pugh speaks of 'horrific' ordeal

A Barnsley teenager who was caught up in the Alton Towers Smiler ride crash last month has described the moment as 'horrific'.

Joe Pugh, whose knees were shattered in the crash has also thanked Huddersfield University for their support.

Joe's 17-year-old girlfriend Leah Washington had her left leg amputated after the crash.

He says she is “recovering well,” and that their injuries will not affect their relationship.

Alton Towers released interim payments to assist with the rehabilitation of the Barnsley couple soon after the incident.
