Interactive map reveals final Le Tour road closures
A new interactive map showing final road closure information and travel guidance for the Grand Départ of this year’s Tour de France has been released today.
The map showing all of the road closures and supporting travel information for the opening two stages of the Grand Départ in Yorkshire on July 5-6 and the first part of stage three from Cambridge to the M25 on July 7 is now live and can be seen at http://tdf.roadworks.org/
The map shows road closure times at any point along the Tour route as well as the nearest event car parking. Travel advice to access official Grand Départ Spectator Hubs and special race zones such at Holme Moss and the Buttertubs Pass is also provided to help spectators plan for the Tour.
From early in June, the system will also provide a fully integrated public transport journey planner, allowing spectators to plan where they want to watch the world’s largest annual sporting event and how they can get there.
Throughout the race weekend itself the interactive map will reflect all the latest real-time traffic information, giving spectators the very latest travel advice and information.
An extensive programme of public engagement and communication around the arrival of the Tour de France in the capital is now underway similar to that developed during the London 2012 Olympics, to help businesses and the public plan and get around on the day and make the most of the event.
