Police investigate suspicious death of 17-year-old in Moffat

Police say they are treating the death of a 17-year-old teenager as suspicious, after he was found unconscious at an address in Moffat.

Emergency services were called to Moffat High Street at around 8.48pm on Monday 5 March.

The teenager was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary where he was later pronounced dead.

Police remain at the scene while a full investigation is underway.

Local Policing Commander Chief Inspector Stephen Stiff said:

I would like to take this opportunity to reassure the local community in Moffat that there is no danger to the public as a consequence of this incident. Officers will be in and around the Moffat area carrying out related enquiries and patrols are ongoing in support of the local community at this time."
