Bags of clothes block major Borders road

A major road in the Scottish Borders was blocked for around two hours this morning, when hundreds of bags of clothes were spilled across the carriageway.

The bags fell from the lorry at around 6:50am, on the A1 between A6112 Grantshouse and B6437 Auchencrow.

The driver was able to clear bags from the northbound lane, but the A1 southbound was blocked.

Police directed traffic to pass in turn on the northbound carriageway.

The southbound lane was re-opened at around 9am.
