One dead and two injured in south Cumbria crash
A man has died and two people are in hospital after a head on crash on the A66 near Appleby.
It happened just before 7pm on Saturday 31 January on the A66 at Sandford.
A silver Vauxhall van travelling towards Brough when it collided with a white minibus.
The driver of the van, a 38-year-old man from the Kirkby Stephen area, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the minibus, who is 39 and from the Troon area in Scotland, was taken to hospital in Cumberland with serious injuries.
A 40-year-old female passenger in the minibus was taken by Seaking helicopter to the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough with serious injuries.
The road was closed for several hours while investigations were carried out.
