Ross Andrew Gibson, 24, is the chosen Cornet this year and will lead this year's Common Riding. His mount will be is his own horse George, a 13-year-old chestnut gelding.
Ross first followed Cornet Greg Mcleod in 2003 on a horse called Barney and in the same year he gained his Mosstroopers badge. He has followed every Cornet since and enjoys participating at other Border Festivals.
Ross, of 6 Heronhill Bank in Hawick is a fully qualified electrician with SBHA. Apart from Common Riding, Ross' other interests include sport, especially rugby and has represented the Borders and Scotland.
Leading the Common Riding as the Cornet has been a lifelong ambition for Ross. He's looking forward yo sharing the experience with people of Hawick and visitors.
