Cumbria Police's new Chief Constable officially begins his new job today. Jerry Graham has been in the police force since 1985, joining Cumbria in 2009. He is now one of the most powerful police officers in the country.

New Chief Constable for Cumbria Police

Cumbria's new Chief Constable is coming to the end of his first full day in office as the man in charge of policing one of the largest rural counties in England.

Jerry Graham entered the service in 1985 and joined the Cumbria force in 2009.

He's had a number of senior roles, but today took up his new post as the man at the top. Earlier this week he was introduced to the media.

New Chief Officer Team named

Police Cumbria have announced two temporary changed to the Chief Officer Team.

It comes on the day the new Chief Constable, Jerry Graham, officially takes on the role.

Michelle Skeer has been named as Temporary Deputy Chief Constable, while Steve Johnson will take the role of Temporary Assistant Chief Constable.

Sean Robinson will take over as Temporary Chief Superintendent for Territorial Policing Command and Justin Bibby is now Temporary Superintendent for North TPA.

A recruitment process will take place later this year to finalise the Chief Officer Team of the Constabulary.
