The Countess of Wessex will be at this year's Border Union show at Springwood Park in Kelso.

This year the show features more than 500 exhibitors and more than 2000 competitors have entered the various livestock categories. The event, due to start today, is 200 years old this year.

The story of wool, from shearing to wearing, will be showcased during this year's Border Union Show.

It is just one of several new attractions at the annual event to mark the 200th anniversary of the region's biggest agricultural show.

Live demonstrations and fashion shows will explain the process that wool goes through from the farm to the coat hanger.

Bumper entries are expected to mark the 200th anniversary of the Border Union Show.

Competitors will be arriving from across the UK to take part in more than 500 open classes throughout the weekend.

Categories will include Horses, Ponies, Cattle, Sheep, Donkeys, Goats, Poultry, Rabbits, Shepherds' Crooks, Horse Shoeing, Young Farmers Stock Judging and Industrial Arts.

As well as the large array of competitions, there will also be around 200 trade stands and numerous displays for visitors to enjoy.

Textiles and sheep will be showcased in the Borders this week for the 200th Border Union Show.

Nearly 3,000 animals have been entered into the biggest agricultural show in the region.

Traditionally the annual show is held on the last Friday and Saturday of July each year in Springwood Park on the outskirts of Kelso.
