Life skills workshops of Borders youngsters
School children from across the Borders have taken part in a series of workshops, teaching them about the everyday hazards that everyone faces.
Everything - from dangers in the countryside to railway safety - is covered as part the event that more than 1000 children have taken part in.
Rescuing someone from a fire is one of the staged scenarios children are responding to at an event in the Borders.
Also high on the agenda is rural safety.
It's hoped by involving these primary 7 pupils in real life situations they might remember what they have been taught.
It's the 20th year that a 'Crucial Crew' event has been run in the Scottish Borders.
This year, rail safety is a new addition.
Superintendent Andrew Allan, Lothian and Borders Police told ITV Border:
"It makes it much more memorable for them and we know from what kids have told us in years past and from some things adults have told us that the kids remember these incidents, and they have been able to use the knowledge in real scenarios to help save lives of themselves and others."
Borders Children learn life skills
Children from across the Scottish Borders are taking part in workshops to teach them life skills.
The Crucial Crew event, which is in its 20th year, sees Primary 7 children take part in scenarios where they have to identify potential hazards and are required to respond as if they were real-life.
It is designed to help young people to cope with dangerous situations, avoid becoming the victims of crime and understand the roles of the emergency services.
This year, Crucial Crew runs from 18th September to 5th October at Eildon Mill in Tweedbank. It is organised by Lothian and Borders Police and the Scottish Borders Safer Community Partnership.
