Carlisle campaigners protest against hike in rail fares
Campaigners gathered outside Carlisle train station to protest against hikes in rail fares this morning.
Three campaign groups, We Own It, Action For Rail and Bring Back British Rail have joined forces and organised two nationwide days of action in England on Tuesday and Scotland on Wednesday.
The union wants the railways to be re-nationalised, 20 years after they were fully privatised.
Companies which operate in Cumbria, including Northern Rail and Virgin, have increased their fees by 2.2% and 2.4%.
Members of the RMT union were joined by Labour supporters as they voiced their concerns about the rises.
