Severe flood warnings issued for Essex coast with risk of danger to life

The Environment Agency has issued three severe flood warnings for the Essex coast around the Mistley, Jaywick, Clacton and Mersea Island area.

It is the highest form of flood alert and means the risk of severe flooding and danger to life.

  • The Essex coast from Clacton to Lee Wick
  • West Mersea, The Strood and adjacent marshland
  • Tidal River Stour at Mistley, including the Quay and The Walls

There are also a series of flood alerts in place all around the Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex coast
