Experts believe a fin whale that washed up on a beach in Norfolk was probably struck by a ship and suffered a spine injury.

A post-mortem has revealed the young female, found at Holkham on 20 October, died of starvation.

Further investigation has shown a deep cut on her side, which may have been caused by a ship strike.

She is the fourth fin whale to be reported stranded in the UK this year.
