Elderly couple found dead at flat in Essex

The bodies of an elderly couple have been found at a flat in Essex.

Police were called to Eastwood Road at Leigh-on-Sea, near Southend, yesterday evening because of concerns about the welfare of the pair.

Both were declared dead at the scene. Officers are treating the deaths as unexplained while they investigate.
