Eleven crews have been tackling a large fire at an industrial estate in Essex this evening.
Smoke could be seen for several miles from the estate at Lancaster Way in Earls Colne near Braintree.
Essex Fire and Rescue Service say it broke out in a builders yard at about 5 o'clock. Wooden pallets, tar and roofing have been on fire.
Three crews from Halstead, 1 from Coggeshall, Witham, Wivenhoe, Chelmsford, two from Colchester and two from Sudbury were called to the scene.
An aerial ladder platform has been used to pour water on the fire from above.
Crews are now bringing the fire under control and reducing back to three fire engines.
"Crews have done an excellent job to stop this fire spreading to neighbouring businesses. When crews arrived, the fire was well developed. Crews quickly got to work tackling the fire in multiple fronts and got the whole area surrounded. The fire is almost out, and crews are extinguishing the remaining hot spots. We have scaled the incident back to three fire engines who will remain at the incident dampening down."
