Complaints made after judge trades insults with defendant in court

The exchange of insults happened during sentencing at Chelmsford Crown court.

Complaints have been made against a judge who was involved in an exchange of insults with a man during his sentencing at Chelmsford Crown court.

John Hennigan, was jailed for 18 months for racially abusing a black woman and her children in Harlow.

During his sentencing he called Judge Patricia Lynch a four letter word.

Judge Lynch calmly quipped she thought he was one himself, but she's now been reported to the body which oversees judges behaviour.
