A mother has been murdered in her home in Luton as she looked after her four children while the rest of her family was attending a late night funeral.
It's believed she may have disturbed a burglar who broke into the family's home in Overstone Road. She has been named locally as Saima Khan.
Neighbours said the dead woman was lying in a pool of blood in the hallway and it's believed she had suffered stab wounds. Unconfirmed reports said that her throat had been slit.
Neighbours were alerted by screaming in the street at around 11.30 on Monday night as the woman's relatives returned to the house.
It's believed an intruder may have got into the house late on Monday night.
Neighbours said the family had come to the UK around seven years ago from Holland.
