Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy has extended his contract with the club until 2018.

McCarthy has had a big impact at Portman Road since joining in 2012 and led Town to the play-offs last season despite working on a limited budget.

Ipswich are competing again at the right end of The Championship and currently sit just outside the top six.

Assistant boss Terry Connor has also been given a new deal.

“TC (Terry Connor) and I are obviously delighted to have extended our contracts. We are really enjoying the job here and the results on the pitch have improved year on year.

In a relentless and tough league that the Championship is, that is testament to the hard work the players have put in. I think we have a team we can all be proud of and it’s mine and TC’s job to make sure that continues.”
