The eighth man of a Luton drugs gang has been sentenced to eight and a half years in prison.

Kamrul Rahman, 24, of Foxglove Way, Luton, was the final man of the group to be sentenced, having pleaded guilty to supplying cocaine and heroin.

His sentence takes the total up to 61 years for the organised crime group, who sold heroin and cocaine with a street value of more than £5 million between February 2014 and January 2015.

During the course of the investigation, Bedfordshire Police seized nine kilos of heroin and cocaine with a street value of up to £1 million.

Seven of his co-offenders were sentenced on 16 October

“This was a huge operation which saw the gang sell large quantities of both heroin and cocaine. At the height of the criminality, the group was taking more than 1,200 calls a week on their street dealing phone line.

“We cannot over-exaggerate the damage that drugs have on people’s lives; causing addiction, illness, financial ruin, and even death. That is why tackling groups such as this one is a key priority for Bedfordshire Police as part of our aim to fight crime and keep people safe.”
