Ipswich Town striker David McGoldrick has signed a new contract that will keep him at Portman Road until 2018.

The Republic of Ireland international has scored 22 goals in 60 league appearances since joining the club permanently in July 2013.

David McGoldrick and Daryl Murphy have been selected for Martin O’Neill’s Republic of Ireland squad for their Euro 2016 qualifiers against Gibraltar and Georgia.

McGoldrick joins Murphy and fellow frontman Freddie Sears in extending his stay at the Blues.

“There is a real buzz about the place at the moment and it’s great to be part of it. We have got a great set of players here and we are going in the right direction. The squad is the best I have known in my time here, with the options we have now. We have got real competition for places all over the pitch. The Premier League where we all want to be and that’s the aim for us this season.”
