The incident happened at the junction of Peddars Lane around 12.10am this morning when a red Volvo 850 collided with a Vauxhall Vivaro.
A man in the Vivaro has sustained serious potentially life-threatening injuries including a collapsed lung, a fractured tibia and fibia.
The 68-year-old man driving the Vivaro sustained cuts to head while another passenger sustained a fractured rib. The 32-year-old driver of the Volvo sustained bruising.
A 30-year-old man was initially arrested on suspicion on drink driving but he will now face no further action.
