Norfolk: Man who fell from Bacton Gas Terminal crane named as David Eastick

A man who died at a gas terminal fell from a crane before it had begun operating, his employer has said.

Police and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are investigating the accident at Bacton gas plant, Norfolk, on Saturday morning (February 28).

Today Quinto Crane & Plant Ltd issued a statement naming the man as David Eastick, who was in his 60s.

It said the news had been met with "great sadness".

"The cause of the injuries are not known but the incident took place before crane lifting operations began.

A full investigation to determine what actually occurred has been launched by Quinto Crane & Plant Ltd, Perenco (UK) Bacton Gas Terminal, HSE and Norfolk police.

Our thoughts and concerns are with his family now and no further comment can be made at this time pending the outcome of the investigation."

The death is not being treated as suspicious.
