New parents angry over hospital parking fine

A woman from Northamptonshire says it is "disgusting" that her husband got a parking fine while he was waiting for her to have an emergency operation.

Sarah Hardy needed a blood transfusion after a last minute caesarean at Northampton General Hospital. During the operation her husband Adam was looking after their newborn daughter and did not top up his parking ticket.

The couple say hospital staff told them they would be able to appeal any fines, because it was an emergency but now they are being told they will have to pay.
