The 25-year-old has yet to make an appearance for the Premier League side since joining them from Wrexham in 2012.
The former England youth international has also spent time on loan at Fleetwood Town and York City in recent campaigns.
Obeng was an unused substitute for Boro last night as they went down 2-0 to promotion chasing Leyton Orient.
