New travellers site planned near Dale Farm

Plans to open a new travellers site just 800 yards from the Dale Farm site in Essex have moved a step closer.

Councillors in Basildon, who fought a ten year legal battle to evict travellers illegally camped at Dale Farm, have agreed to lease land for the new site from the Home and Counties Agency.

It will provide 15 pitches for caravans and be run by a company that specialises in providing suitable accomodation for travellers.
