Thousands of morning commuters left stranded on A14 after crash

There's been travel misery for thousands of commuters today who found themselves stranded on the A14 after an early morning crash.

Two lorries were involved in the collision at junction 37 on the outskirts of Newmarket in West Suffolk.

It meant the road has been closed for a significant part of the day but has now re-opened.

A14 westbound to be closed for 3 hours following serious lorry crash

Police are currently at the scene of a serious collision in Newmarket on the A14.

The crash involving two lorries happened at around 4:15am this morning near to Junction 37.

Police have confirmed the road westbound will be closed at J37 for an estimated 2-3 hours while the HGV vehicles are recovered.

Diversions will be in place off the sliproad at J37 (A142 junction).

Drivers will be able to head over the flyover and rejoin the A14 at the same junction.

Lorry blocks westbound carriageway on A14 after serious accident

Police are currently at the scene of a serious collision in Newmarket on the A14.

Officers were called around 4.15am this morning to reports of a collision between two lorries near to Junction 37.

The Ambulance Service and Suffolk Fire and Rescue are in attendance. One of the lorries is currently blocking the westbound carriageway, with only one lane open.

All three lanes westbound are due to shut shortly until lunchtime for recovery of one of the lorries, which is on its side. Diversions will be put in place.

Both drivers have been taken to Addenbrooke's hospital. One of the drivers is believed to have serious injuries.
