New College opens at Silverstone

The Silverstone University Technical College opened its doors to students for the first time today.

200 students are based at the new multi-million pound college at the Silverstone circuit in Northamptonshire.

Staff at the brand new Silverstone University Technical College have opened the doors to a new £10m school.

200 students have now started the first ever year 10 and year 12 classes after seeing huge demand from across the UK from young people.

There has been huge interest in High Performance Engineering and Business and Technical Events Management, which students can study at the college.

Silverstone UTC is one of only 12 opening this month, after getting approval by the Department for Education in 2011.

A college which aims to produce the engineers of the future for Britain's motor sport industry, has opened its doors today.
