The Court of Appeal has upheld a decision by the High Court to quash plans for a windfarm near to the historic Lyveden New Bield in Northamptonshire.

Campaigners win landmark windfarm battle

Local people and leading conservationists have won a landmark legal battle against an energy company over plans for a windfarm in Northamptonshire.

Four 90 metre turbines were to be built at Barnwell Manor, but the National Trust argued the windfarm would cause substantial harm to the views of a heritage area at Lyveden New Bield.

Today a Supreme Court judge agreed and quashed the original ruling, calling it "legally flawed".

Campaigners are fighting a High Court battle to stop a windfarm being built close to an Elizabethan country lodge in Northamptonshire.
