Large fire at Cambridgeshire recycling centre expected to burn for 'few days'

Fire crews from Cambridgeshire attended a fire at a recycling centre in Waterbeach on 8 September.

Firefighters reached Amey Cespa recycling centre on Ely Road at 12.19am.

Cambridge Fire and Rescue Service said they are "dealing with a large fire involving household rubbish".

They've been working with staff from the recycling centre and have managed to contain the fire. The crew have been dampening the area down and are allowing the fire to burn out.

Local residents have been advised to keep their doors and windows closed as a precaution. Firefighters have warned drivers that the A10 may be impacted, so they should "drive cautiously where they see signage around the area".

South Cambridgeshire Police believe the fire is likely to burn over the next few days.
