Ben Godfrey: Norwich City youngster signs contract extension
Highly-rated Norwich City midfielder Ben Godfrey has signed a one-year contract extension with the club.
The 20-year-old impressed in a loan spell at Shrewsbury Town last season - helping them reach the League One play-off final where they were eventually beaten by Rotherham United.
Godfrey, who was signed from York City in 2016, had been linked with Premier League and Championship clubs, but his new deal will keep him at Carrow Road until 2022.
He has featured heavily in pre-season, mainly at centre-back, and Head Coach Daniel Farke is confident he can make an impact in the Canaries' first time next season.
"Ben had a really good loan spell and we were convinced that he would be good when he came back," he said.
"In pre-season so far, he's been there with some really good performances and it's been important that he's been able to play quite a few positions.
"He's another good option for us and I'm very pleased with Ben. There's no time for him to have another loan spell because we are convinced he can help us in the short-term and long-term."
