Game (not yet) Over: Exhibition celebrates 40 years of Space Invaders

It wasn't the first video game, but it was the one that got the multi-billion pound games industry a massive shot in the arm.

Space Invaders is about to celebrate it's 40th birthday - and a special exhibition devoted to the arcade game is about to open in Cambridge.

The Centre for Computing History is celebrating the birthday with 40 different versions of the classic shoot-em-up on 40 different platforms and the museum will also stage a special Space Invaders championship.

The event will also see a special panel discussion looking at the impact the game has had.

Cambridge won't be alone in marking the gaming milestone. This is how the Japanese have been celebrating.
