Rail passengers had to be evacuated from a train following a fire in Hertfordshire on Thursday afternoon.

Commuters on the Hull Trains service to London were told to get off at Welwyn North station just after 1pm due to a fire in an engine compartment.

No one was hurt but journeys in and out of London Kings Cross have been affected as a result.

Hertfordshire County Council confirmed that the incident has now been dealt with, but disruption could continue well into Thursday evening.
