Death of man being treated as unexplained after body found in Witham river

The death of man in Witham in Essex is being treated as unexplained after a body was found in a river.

Police made the discovery in the Chipping Hill area of the town just after 9.30am on Friday morning.

Officers have confirmed they will be carrying out house to house enquiries in the town on Friday evening as they try to piece together what happened.

They're also keen to hear from anyone who may have seen a man in his 20s or 30s in the area at the time. It's thought he was wearing black jogging bottoms and red trainers, and may not have been wearing a top.
