Disruption to train service after station fire

A fire at Saxmundham station, Suffolk has caused disruption on the train line between Ipswich and Lowestoft.

The disruption is expected to continue until 10am tomorrow (February 13).

A fire in a building at the station was brought under control after 4pm and lines reopened shortly before 6pm.

However, the blaze damaged station infrastructure causing the ongoing disruption to services. Trains from Ipswich to Lowestoft will be unable to call at the station until the fire service make the buildings safe.

Rail replacement services are in place.
