Ipswich Witches speedway promoter Chris Louis admitted the best team won as their Championship title hopes were ended by Sheffield Tigers in the Grand Final.

The Suffolk club, bidding for their first league success since 1998, had to overturn a 16 point deficit following the first leg in South Yorkshire which they lost 53-37.

But it proved to be too big a lead as the Tigers went on to win the second leg 46-44 at Ipswich's Foxhall Stadium.

What made matters worse for home fans was their former star, Scott Nicholls, played a big part in the Tigers' success as a guest rider.

The 39 year old accepted the booking after Tigers' number 1 Josh Grajczonek was injured in the first leg. He went on to score 12 points on the night.

Cameron Heeps was the Witches star performer with 14 points.
