Trains cancelled on Norwich to London line due to heat
Rail passengers have been told the hot weather will cause disruption and cancellations to today's schedule. With temperatures expected to reach more than 30 degrees, Greater Anglia said speed restrictions will be in place on the Norwich to London mainline including the Southend Victoria line and Braintree lines from noon.
The operator said speed restrictions have been put in place to protect the railway infrastructure and keep services running, but at a slower speed. This helps to prevent rails from buckling when they get very hot (the lower speeds exert less pressure on the rail) and to protect overhead lines, which may sag during very high temperatures.
Greater Anglia will introduce an amended timetable from noon onwards. The following services have been cancelled or amended:

Advance purchase ticket holders can travel on earlier or later trains if their booked service is cancelled
