Huge fire breaks out on Corby industrial estate
Video report by ITV News Anglia's Matthew Hudson
Firefighters have spent much of the day tackling a large fire that has broke out on an industrial estate in Corby, Northamptonshire.
Crews were called to the Multy UK factory on Brunel Road just before midday.
It took dozens of firefighters to bring the blaze safely under control.
Eight fire engines and two aerial platforms were involved in the operation.
The fire service said they were dealing with "large quantities of smoke".
Neighbouring premises were evacuated and local people were in the area to keep their doors and windows shut.
Thick black smoke was visible for miles around the estate.
Multy UK specialises in cleaning products. The company works with material, like sponge, which accounts for much of the filthy black smoke.
The fire service says it is working all the relevant agencies to make sure the effect on the environment is kept to a minimum.
Once the area is dampened down, fire investigators will begin working out how the blaze began.
