Cambridge United showed their charitable side last night by offering free refreshments to visiting Morecambe supporters who made the long trip to East Anglia - only to see their team get thrashed 7-0!

46 Shrimps fans in total made their way to the Abbey Stadium for the League Two clash which saw Cambridge set a new club record.

The victory was the U's biggest ever in the Football League - eclipsing their previous best against Darlington in 1971 and Hartlepool United in 1989.

As a reward for the commitment of the Morecambe contingent, Cambridge Chief Executive Jez George offered every away fan a voucher entitling them to a hot drink and an item of food.
