Essex County Cricket Club have appointed caretaker boss Chris Silverwood as their new Head Coach.
The former England seamer took over for the final few games of last season's County Championship following Paul Grayson's departure in August.
During that period, he led Essex to a third place finish in Division Two.
Silverwood beat a series of high-profile candidates, including former Australia coach Mickey Arthur and ex England wicketkeeper Paul Nixon, to land the job.
40-year-old Silverwood said that he was delighted that the interview panel had shown so much faith in him and added that he is determined to lead the County to success.
