'Every Little helps': Tesco send £238,000 in vouchers to Cambridgeshire man by mistake

A charity boss from Cambridgeshire thought that he'd hit the jackpot when he was sent nearly £240,000 worth of gift vouchers by Tesco.

Ken Smith from Histon actually ordered £2,300 in Tesco vouchers to give to local charities but was stunned when £238,000 arrived at his home instead.

However, instead of keeping the money, Mr Smith decided to tell the supermarket that they'd made a mistake.

As a reward for his honesty, Tesco sent him £250 in vouchers and apologised for the mix-up.

Mr Smith was one of five customers sent the wrong amount due to an "operational error", with Tesco mistakenly sending £860,000 in vouchers.
