Cameras are rolling in Cambridge for the second series of the ITV drama Grantchester.

James Norton and Robson Green are back as vicar Sidney Chambers and Police Inspector Geordie Keating.

After the success of the first series, the 1950s crime drama will be back on our screens early next year.

The show’s stars have already been spotted shooting scenes in Cambridge city centre and now filming has begun again in Grantchester.

Locals are once again appearing as extras in the episodes and buildings too are being taken back to the 1950s.

Tessa Peake-Jones, Kacey Ainsworth and Al Weaver are back and actors Neil Morrissey and Paul Nicholls are joining the cast.

Producer Emma Kingsman-Lloyd said the themes would be “a little darker” this series, as Sidney and Geordie disagree about moral questions like the death penalty.

Producers have commissioned a headstone to be erected in Grantchester churchyard for the filming.

It marks the grave of one of the characters but which one? That will remain a mystery until the drama is aired next year.
