Would you mind awfully...now blue plaque commemorates life of Dad's Army actor

Now - we all know that many scenes in the much-loved sit com Dad's Army were filmed around Thetford in Norfolk, but there's also a link to Bedfordshire.The actor John Le Mesurier who played Sergeant Wilson in the series - was born in Bedford. Now a blue heritage plaque's been unveiled at 34 Chaucer Road where the actor was born.

Now - more than 30 years on - a blue heritage plaque has been unveiled at the house in Bedford where he was born - on April the 5th, 1912.

It's hoped the plaque could make the house a popular spot for Dad's Army fans who want to visit locations linked to one of the country's best loved sit coms.
