The names of 54 forgotten soldiers who died in the First World War will finally be added to the war memorial in Diss in Norfolk in time for Remembrance Sunday.

Young men who fought and died in the conflict have been left off the war memorial for nearly a century.

Historian Helen Kennett has spent 18 years researching the forgotten soldiers. At first she thought there were ten names that had been left off the war memorial but was shocked to find it was over fifty.

Even experts at Diss Museum are unsure as to why the names were left off.

Diss stonemasons Perfitt have now made the additions to the war memorial. If there are still a few names missing there is room to add them later.
