Conservative majority: 9

Castle Point Council in South Essex has a strongly independent streak but is currently run by the Conservatives.

Currently the council has only Conservative and Canvey Island Independent councillors and the Tories have had an outright majority since 2003. Labour used to have an overall majority from 1995 until 2003.

There are elections for 14 of the 41 seats on the council.
