Ambulance service failings contributed to student's death

A coroner has blamed failings in the ambulance service for contributing to the death of a student veterinary nurse who died after being trapped for nearly two hours in her crashed car.

He said that Catherine Barton's injuries were serious but not necessarily life threating. She died because of inadequate care and a series of omissions by a paramedic who has since been removed from frontline duties.
