Two men have been sentenced for animal cruelty after they were filmed beating pigs on a Norfolk Farm.

Geoffrey Towell, 54, from East Harling and James Dove, 27, from Wymondham pleaded guilty to a number of charges of cruelty and failing to protect pigs form pain and suffering at an earlier hearing. The owner of the farm took his own life when the allegations came to light.

The pair were sentenced at Norwich Magistrates' Court today.

Towell was jailed for 18 weeks for each charge to run concurrently. He was banned from handling or managing animals for ten years.

Dove was jailed for eight weeks, suspended for a year. He was banned from handling or managing animals for five years.

Dove was also ordered to pay £500 costs.
