Olympic Torch Tracker: Day 50

Day 50 – Saturday 7th July 2012

Chelmsford to Cambridge

Timings may change

6.57 am Chelmsford

The torch sets off from Anglia Ruskin University and turns onto Bishop Hall Lane and then New Street into Chelmsford High Street. The it’s into Moulsham Street past the museum and a left onto New London Road. The final stretch in the newly-created Jubilee City of Chelmsford is along the A141 London Road as far as the A1016 Westway.

7.57 am Harlow

The torch relay will leave from Harlow Leisure Zone on the A1025 Second Avenue. It continues along thr A1025 before turning right into Velizy Avenue and then a left into East Gate, through the pedestrian area and then along West Gate. After that left along Haydens Road as far as the A1025 Third Avenue.

8.26 am Waltham Abbey

The relay resumes its journey along the B194 and A121 Crooked Mile from the Lee Valley Park Cornmills entrance and then turns right into Darby Drive and Sun Street. After that it’s right into Church Street and Highbridge Street before turning right into the Lee Valley Games venue where the canoe slalom will take place.

At about 9am the Olympic Flame is then due to take a ride on a raft along the white water rafting course. After a crew break, the torch will continue through Waltham Cross along Station Road then the A121 Eleanor Cross Road. Then left into the A1010 Abbey Road and right into the High Street as far as Monarch’s Way.

10.21 am Hertford

This leg starts along the A414 London Road at Mangrove Road into Fore Street. It’s right into Market Street, right into Railway Street and right into South Street. Then it’s left back onto Fore Street and left onto the A119 Ware Road where the torch goes as far as Cockbush Avenue.

10.38 am Ware, Hertfordshire

The torch starts its journey on the A119 Hertford Road from Myddleton Road. At the A1170 it takes a left into Amwell End and Viaduct Road before a left into the High Street. Then left into Watton Raod and Westmill Road as far as Wengo Way.

11.14 am Bishop’s Stortford

The relay gets going again on the A1250 Hadham Road from Patmore Close and heads into Link Road and Hockerill Street. After a left turn onto the B1383 Stansted Road as far as the Essex border.

11.55 am Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex

From Old Bell Close the Olympic Flame runs along the B1383 Pines Hill into Bentfield Road and Cambridge Road as far as the The Rookery.

Convoy – Stansted Mountfitchet to Newport

12.16 pm Newport, Essex

The relay goes along the A1383 London Road from The Spinney to Shortgrove Estate.

12.37 pm Saffron Walden

Starting from Beeches Close the torch relay continues along the B1052 Newport Road into London Road. Then a left turn into Saffron Walden’s High Street and into Bridge Street as far as New Pond Lane.

2.39 pm Haverhill, Suffolk

The torch makes its second foray into Suffolk starting in Burton End, Haverhill from the junction with Cleves Road. The journey continues along Camps Road and right into Market Hill and the High Street. From there, left into Harriet Road, left into Mount Road and left onto the A1017 Ehringshausen Way continuing into Lord’s Croft Lane. Then it’s onto The Pightle and right along the A143 Wratting Road as far as Ann Suckling Road.

3.39 pm Bury St Edmunds

The Olympic Flame is back on the road again at the Bristol Road junction with the A143 Horringer Road and along to Out Westgate Street and into Westgate Street. It’s then a right turn into Crown Street and Angel Hill before turning right into Mustow Street. Then left into Northgate Street and onto Fornham Road and left into Tollgate Lane. From Beetons Way, it’s left into Bury St Edmunds Leisure Centre and onto the athletics track.

5.29 pm Newmarket

The torch goes along the A142 Fordham Road from Noel Murless Drive as far as the High Street. From the High Street the relay will continue to Barbara Stradbroke Avenue as far as Dullingham Road.

6.06 pm Cambridge

The torch relay resumes on the A1303 Newmarket Road from Ditton Lane and continues along to Barnwell Road and into Brooks Road. Then a right turn into Brookfields and Mill Road and onto Parker’s Piece where the evening celebration takes place.
